Why We Build in Colorado Springs, And Why We're Not Going Anywhere

There's no shortage of construction companies operating in Colorado Springs. Some are national firms that set up local offices when the market is good. Some are regional players that take projects here between jobs elsewhere.

Matukat is different, and not just because we say so.

We started here. We grew here. Our team lives here. And the way we show up on every project is shaped by the fact that this community is ours too.

How it started

Matukat was built by people who wanted to do construction differently, with more communication, more care, and more accountability than the industry typically offers. Ben and Spencer had a shared vision for what a construction company could be. Lynn, Ben's dad, brought more than 50 years of industry experience that helped turn that vision into something real.

Three people, two trucks, and a belief that building well and treating people well aren't competing ideas.

What Colorado Springs means to us

Colorado Springs is a place people choose on purpose. They come for the mountains, the climate, the community, and they stay because it feels like home.

We feel the same way about building here. We understand the terrain, the weather, the permitting environment, and the neighborhoods. We have relationships with local subcontractors and suppliers who we trust and who trust us. We know what it means to build something that has to hold up to Colorado winters and Colorado soil.

That local knowledge isn't incidental. It makes us better at what we do.

A team that's grown, and keeps growing

From that original crew to a team of more than 20 people, Matukat has grown because our clients kept coming back and kept referring us to people they care about. That kind of growth doesn't happen by accident. It happens when you do the work right and treat people the way they deserve to be treated.

We're proud of that growth. And we're proud that every person who has joined this team has made us better.

What we're building toward

We're not trying to be the biggest construction company in Colorado Springs. We're trying to be the one people trust most, the one homeowners call when they're ready to build their dream home, and the one business owners call when they need a contractor who will show up and do what they say.

That takes time. It takes consistency. And it takes showing up the same way on every project, whether it's a $50,000 remodel or a multi-million dollar commercial build.

Final thoughts

Colorado Springs is growing, and that means more construction happening across the city every year. Some of it will be done by companies passing through. Some of it will be done by companies that are genuinely invested in the community they're building in.

We're in the second category. We always have been.

If you're planning a project and want to work with a team that treats your build like it matters, because it does, we'd love to hear from you.
